What is somen?
Somen are very thin Japanese wheat noodles. They cook quickly and are usually served cold.

01
How somen is served
In traditional Japanese cooking somen is eaten cold, with a light dipping sauce or in a gentle broth. It is associated with the warmer months because it feels fresh and delicate.

02
How it differs from other noodles
Somen are thinner than udon and soba. Because of their thickness they pick up the flavours of the broth or sauce they are served with.
